THE PURITY OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

From the October 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In "Rudimental Divine Science" (p. 1) Mary Baker Eddy asks the question, "How would you define Christian Science?" and answers it thus: "As the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony." It may be said that Christian Science reveals the truth of real being, showing the spiritual relationship between God, the universe, and man in His image and likeness.

This Science was revealed by God to Mrs. Eddy, and in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" she has elucidated the truths set forth in the Bible, bringing to light the real, spiritual meaning of His Word. With unselfish compassion and love for mankind she has given this truth freely to the world.

Our textbooks, the Holy Bible and Science and Health, are indispensable and inseparable, and present the infallible standard to which Christian Scientists endeavor to conform their daily activities. Only as this Science is accepted as true in its entirety can one enjoy, through demonstration, the benefits it bestows. It must be studied conscientiously, and properly applied. Furthermore, it is essential that Mrs. Eddy be recognized for what she is, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and the Leader of this great spiritual movement. She says (Science and Health, p. 464), "Adulterating Christian Science, makes it void." Students, therefore, must hew to the line in honest endeavor to understand and demonstrate Truth as the source of health, happiness, and success.
