Among the many healings I have experienced in Christian Science was one of defective hearing. Medical reports had been very discouraging; tonsils and the middle turbinated bone of the nose had been removed, but the infection remained. Then I became interested in Christian Science. Many times I attended church services or lectures, and read the literature, also called for help from a practitioner, but heard and understood very little; yet each time I glimpsed some healing truth through a beautiful thought, a lovely hymn, or the indescribable "Peace, be still," realized in earnest prayer. Gradually, I found that I was hearing normally and, in a measure, understanding why.
Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 181), "Mind, God, is the source and condition of all existence." For this ever-available Science; for the blessings it brings when applied; for each of the activities through which it is being manifested in the affairs of mankind today; for its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, who so graciously shared her practical understanding of Truth; and for the privilege of church membership, I hope, in deed, to express an unceasing thanks to God.— Detroit, Michigan.
