REPRESENTATION

From the February 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Since man's purpose is to represent God, his role is not passive, it is active; it is not insignificant, it is of the first importance; it is not circumscribed, it is boundless in vision and accomplishment.

In defining man, Mary Baker Eddy writes of him. on page 591 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," that he is "the full representation of Mind." What is the significance of this statement to each one of us? How can it be translated into action? How can it be made immediately effective?

Christ Jesus knew exactly what it meant and how to demonstrate its effectiveness in every detail, and his life on earth was the practical expression of this fact. In dramatic completeness, he thus defined it: "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth."
