I first became interested in Christian Science through the healing of my mother, who had doctored for years for an internal difficulty which the physicians pronounced incurable. In her despair and as a last resort my mother turned to Christian Science for help, and not only was she healed physically, but her nature, which had become morose because of illness, was changed to a joyous one. In turn she helped and healed others for many years.
Although I was a very young girl, this healing impressed me greatly, and I began asking questions and reading the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I joined The Mother Church and later a branch church, after which I had class instruction. Soon I was healed of chronic colds, sore throat, and bronchial trouble, which had caused such discomfort every winter that I had been confined to my bed.
In rearing my four children I have found that reliance on God takes away the false sense of responsibility that mothers often entertain.
