Many blessings have been mine since I began the study of Christian Science in 1899. I am deeply grateful for our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, whose unfailing obedience to God enabled her to discern the revelation of divine Mind.
I was reared in the Christian faith, and in my childhood loved the Bible, but my copy of this precious volume was laid aside at the age of fifteen, when I became troubled over my inability to understand and obey the two great commandments (see Mark 12:30, 31). For a few years I endeavored to find peace and contentment of mind in the realm of materiality, but this attempt resulted only in self-dissatisfaction, disappointment, and suffering.
A sister who had been healed by the reading of the Christian Science textbook, 'Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, came to make her home in the city where I was then living. Notwithstanding my aversion to Christian Science, I accepted the invitation to live in her home, where I witnessed the instantaneous healing of her small son of a severe burn, and observed the amicable relations that Christian Science brings about in the home life.
