It is with great gratitude for Christian Science that I give this testimony. After seeking physical healing through the medium of materia medica for over twenty years and finally being told by a learned doctor that medical treatment could not cure me, I turned to Christian Science to learn more of its healing power.
Having learned something of the teachings of this Science through the literature, including The Christian Science Monitor, and having seen a brother-in-law benefited mentally and physically through his study of this Science, I asked him to send me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which he did. I then began to seek the living God.
I found it very confusing at first, for I did not seem to be able to rule out of thought a personal God and a personal devil. But, so anxious was I to know divine Principle and to feel divine Love's presence, I continued to study. Whenever confusion of thought came, I would stop, turn back the pages of Science and Health to the Preface and read (p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings. The wakeful shepherd beholds the first faint morning beams, ere cometh the full radiance of a risen day." There I would rest in meditation. It gave to me a sense of peace and took away from me all desire to "push"; also it taught me the lesson of patience, to wait for unfoldment.
