A few years ago, when returning to the West Coast, I became involved in an accident and was rushed to an emergency hospital. The verdict was that the case was hopeless. At the very instant of this experience my consciousness had been flooded with this truth: "God is my Life." Like an angel by my side it never left me, even during all the time those about me were thinking I was unconscious.
For many years I had been a Christian Scientist and had witnessed many healings, and, like the disciples of old, knew this bread from heaven was feeding and sustaining me (see "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, p. 33).
A Christian Science practitioner was called and, apart from the setting of the bones of one leg, only Christian Science treatment was given—with the result that a crushed chest, broken ribs, cracked pelvic bone, and a back broken in three places, were completely and perfectly healed. I experienced absolute freedom from pain from the broken bones, which knit together satisfactorily, and I am grateful to say that an anticipated cast for my body was not needed. When ready to leave the hospital with the aid of crutches, I went to the Christian Science Benevolent Association Sanatorium at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. There a complete healing of both body and mind took place, the peace "which passeth all understanding" brought to me newness of life, and the truth was proved, "God is my Life."
