I wish to express my deep gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me, with the hope it will bring comfort and help to others.
About fifteen years ago, I began the study of Christian Science. A friend for whom I had been caring for about four years turned to it because she had failed to find healing in materia medica. A practitioner took over the case, and in order that I might not be a hindrance to my friend, I too began to study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I kept the book by my bed, and read it morning and evening. From the very first pages of the chapter on Prayer, I realized that this was the truth for which I had long been searching, and which satisfied my hunger for spiritual things. As I read the chapter called "Science, Theology, Medicine," I saw that this truth would meet all physical ills, for if God were omnipotent, as this book and the Bible declared Him to be, then there could be no power in drugs. Although suffering at that time from faulty elimination, I refused to take any more drugs, and in a very short time action was free and normal.
About six years before this time I had suffered from a serious attack of pleurisy with effusion and neuralgia on the right side of the chest. I was under medical care, and after many months had been sent out West to regain my health, and gradually recovered. Since becoming a student of Christian Science, however, I have lived in various parts of the country with no fear of climate.
