Testimonies of Healing

I did not take up the study of...

From the March 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I did not take up the study of Christian Science for healing. After reading the textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which was lent me by a relative who was a Christian Scientist, I felt it was so satisfying that I must follow its teachings. I immediately gave up all medical aid for our two young children and myself, joined a branch church, and enrolled the children in the Christian Science Sunday School. My husband followed me in joining the church and a few years later we both had the privilege of class instruction.

I am humbly grateful for the opportunity of working in different capacities in a branch church, and for the harmonious working out of our problems, sometimes through our own understanding, and sometimes with the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner.

In the early days of my study of Christian Science in meeting the problems of the family Mrs. Eddy's statements (Science and Health, p. 228), "There is no power apart from God. Omnipotence has all-power, and to acknowledge any other power is to dishonor God," were my rod and staff and my greatest support. As the years went by, my love and gratitude for Jesus' example and teaching, and for Mrs. Eddy's great love and devotion in discovering and establishing the Science of Christianity grew more and more profound.
