Testimonies of Healing

I feel impelled to express my...

From the March 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I feel impelled to express my gratitude at this time for the Christian Science Wartime Activities and to the Christian Science Wartime Ministers in the various camps throughout the country.

I should like to express gratitude for a couple of healings I experienced during my training period in the Army. Shortly after arriving at a camp near Cheyenne, Wyoming, I manifested a cold. Trying to rise above it, I did my mental work immediately, and studied the more diligently. However, I could not clear my thought regarding it, and later it settled in my throat so that I could scarcely talk. Finally, I got in touch with the Christian Science Wartime Minister assigned to our camp. His understanding of the problems that one encounters at a camp of this kind, together with his statements of truth, were very helpful to me, and as we talked things over, my thoughts became clearer and I knew that I was free mentally. In a short time, I was free physically as well, and rejoicing and thanking God for another proof of the healing power of Christian Science.

Another experience occurred during one of our training classes. We were being shown the different parts of a rifle, when one of my buddies released a spring of his rifle and a spring flew out with great force across the room, hitting me on the side of my face just below the temple. I am grateful to say that I felt neither pain nor fear, and as I bathed my face, I declared that nothing could hurt God's child. I was taken to the dispensary by the company lieutenant, and when I told them I was a student of Christian Science, they only cleansed the wound and placed a bandage on it to keep it clean. On the second day when I returned to the dispensary for a fresh bandage, I was told that the wound was healing nicely and very rapidly, but was told to keep the bandage on. To be obedient, I did keep the bandage on for several days, but each day I did my work and denied any false suggestion that there might be a scar. When the bandage was removed, no scar or mark could be seen. For this healing, as well as others, I am indeed grateful.
