"LOVE MORE FOR EVERY HATE"

From the August 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"O make me glad for every scalding tear,
For hope deferred, ingratitude, disdain!
Wait, and love more for every hate, and fear
No ill,—since God is good, and loss is gain."
(Poems, p. 4.)

These wonderful words, written by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, are great in wisdom and tender in guidance. Their vital message is needed today as never before, because humanity is facing pictures of bitter hatred and the anguish of irreparable loss. But Christian Science is here to reveal how Love triumphs over hate, and how loss can result in gain.

To one whose all of human happiness or material safety seems to have been swept away, these may be hard words to comprehend. Nothing but the spiritual understanding of Life and Love is adequate to lift thought above the transient, tragic evidence of mortal existence and bring to realization the inviolate joy, the uninvaded peace and security, of spiritual being.
