From the August 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As stated from time to time in previous announcements in the periodicals, several wartime workers known as Christian Science Officiating Ministers have been serving those in the armed forces in Great Britain and Ireland and in the Middle East. They function in a manner similar to chaplains and Christian Science Wartime Ministers serving with the armed forces of the United States. One of these Officiating Ministers is located in Egypt and serves with the Middle East Command; another is now in Italy; while a third is in India.

Men and women in the armed forces in these theaters who desire to get in touch with a Christian Science wartime worker, or members of their families or friends wishing to do so on their behalf, may communicate with the Officiating Minister in their district, as indicated below.

MIDDLE EAST— Mr. Walter Batting
Officiating Minister for Christian Scientists, M. E. F.
c /o Christian Science Society, 3, Midan Mustafa Kamel, Cairo. Egypt
