In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 406), "The Bible contains the recipe for all healing." I have been healed of pain, sickness, and depression, caused by extreme nervousness, through reading and declaring statements of truth from the Bible and Science and Health.
Some years ago I was healed of pain which troubled me whenever I walked for any length of time. I had always enjoyed walking, but at that time I began to be troubled with an increasing sense of pain, so that I was glad to rest whenever I could. As time went on, the periods of resting grew longer. I had Christian Science treatment, and worked for myself, too. to know the truth about the condition, but it was not healed. I became discouraged and resentful, wondering why this healing did not come more quickly.
One day my young son and I had to go to town on business. Our home was a halfhour's walk from town. The boy was disappointed when I proposed taking a car. so I started to walk in fear and trembling. When we were halfway, the pain became so intense I was obliged to stop to collect my thoughts. I turned wholeheartedly to God. humbly asking what I should do. These words from Galatians came (5:25): "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." Standing there, I saw clearly that man does not move in matter but in Mind. I was going where I wanted to go; my body was not taking me there, rather was I taking it; therefore it could not dictate terms.
