THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

From the March 1945 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A Thorough educational system for students of Christian Science has been provided by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, through the activities of The Mother Church and its branches. To make more spiritual progress and increase our ability to demonstrate Truth, or the power of God, we should not only be familiar with the many opportunities furnished in Christian Science for instruction, study, and practice, but we should also be utilizing these means if we desire higher spiritual achievements.

A man or a woman who chooses a professional or special business career finds that complete educational facilities are available in schools and colleges to enable him to advance and become successful in his work. Education in any field is essential for progress and success. It is no different in Christian Science.

"Every person," says Gibbon, "has two educations, one which he receives from others, and one, more important, which he gives himself." To these, Christian Science would add the indispensable education— the one he receives from God. For man is taught of God, and the Scriptures recount the chain of the revelation of God's nature to human consciousness throughout the Old and New Testaments. Christ Jesus declared (John 6:45): "It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me."
