My introduction to Christian Science came when as a child I was placed in the Christian Science Sunday School. In my early teens, however, I drifted away from it. After completing my education I applied for work at several places without results. Seeing that I was disturbed by this condition of lack, a friend, who is a Christian Scientist, said to me, "Why not try Christian Science?" This I did, and with the help of a Christian Science practitioner, and the realization that God is our only employer, I found work. I am grateful for this experience, because it proved to me that Christian Science does heal every wrong situation when we let Truth operate in our consciousness.
A little over two years ago, when about to be inducted into the armed forces of the United States, I was examined by a local physician. He diagnosed several difficulties, saying I should never see any kind of service. These conditions were beautifully healed with the help of a practitioner.
I enlisted in the United States Navy, and upon examination was found to have no physical defects. I have had many healings since first joining the service, such as of homesickness or belief of separation from loved ones, fear, timidity, criticism, and anxiety. I am grateful for the protection I have had on the water and while in three major engagements at sea. In Psalm 139 we read: "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me." This Scriptural passage has been a great help to me in knowing that the only power is God, good.
