PRAISE, my soul, the King of heaven;
To His feet thy tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Who like us His praise should sing?
So runs a well-loved hymn (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 280), and in this testimony I wish to render my tribute of gratitude for all the blessings which the study of Christian Science has brought into my life.
This wonderful religion was introduced to me some years ago at a time of great unhappiness and need. I had been brought up in an orthodox Christian faith, but for some time this had failed to satisfy me. God seemed unknowable, and very far away. I ceased attending church, but in my great longing to find and understand God, I looked into different beliefs and types of thought, only to find in them no satisfaction at all. For some time I had been in a state of extreme ill-health, both mentally and physically, and was constantly away from my work. I received treatment from various doctors, who did all they could to help me, but, like the woman in the Bible, under medical treatment I "was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse" (Mark 5:26).
