A number of years ago I submitted a testimony, which was published in the Sentinel. In the intervening years I have received so much help from the study and application of Christian Science that I feel it is high time to express more fully my deep appreciation of what our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has done for mankind. On page 558 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says: "To mortal sense Science seems at first obscure, abstract, and dark; but a bright promise crowns its brow. When understood, it is Truth's prism and praise. When you look it fairly in the face, you can heal by its means, and it has for you a light above the sun, for God 'is the light thereof.'" For this glorious light which has dawned in my consciousness I am unspeakably happy; it has made my way glad, free, and joyous.
The following are just a few of the many physical healings I have received through Christian Science. Many of them resulted from the work done for me by a practitioner, some came through my own work. Bowel trouble of many years' standing was overcome through one treatment by a practitioner. Severe headaches, female trouble, abscesses of the ear and nose, tonsillitis, asthma, fevers of different types, adhesions, dizziness, low blood pressure, fainting spells, as well as other ailments too numerous to mention, have disappeared.
I have been healed of sin in various forms and of false appetites. I have become less critical, and therefore more able to see God's man, and all of God's creation. Great blessings were gained when I was able to free myself from the cigarette habit. This I worked out by reasoning that it was unclean, a selfish indulgence and a waste of time, and indicated loss of control over my body. The liquor and drug habits were healed in much the same manner, with the exception that I had much help from a number of Christian Science practitioners. At last I had to face it alone with God. The healing came, and it would take volumes to tell what freedom from false appetite means. I pray that this testimony will help to heal any who read it, especially those who are in bondage to the above-mentioned false beliefs.
