At the time of my first healing in Christian Science, I was sad and lonely because of the passing on of a dear one. I was also suffering much pain in my back, a condition which doctors said was serious, and which made it necessary for me to give up my position. At this time a. friend, who knew a little of Christian Science, invited me to a lecture. The lecturer spoke at length about Love, and I shall never forget the deep impression that it made upon me. I walked home forgetting I had ever had a pain. I had always been loved by and knew great love for my dear ones. This new concept, however, of God's great love for us filled my consciousness with the understanding of His nearness and ever-presence. I knew that I had been healed, but I did not know how the healing had occurred.
The next day I borrowed "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy from the Christian Science Reading Room. Shortly after this I purchased a copy of my own. Through The Christian Science Journal I was able to secure the help of a practitioner, who has lovingly helped me whenever called upon. About five months after my healing I was asked to take my former position, and without any fear I agreed to do so. I was able to continue in that work as long as it was necessary, and since then have worked continually for ten years.
I express my deep gratitude for the work the practitioners are doing and for all our periodicals, including The Christian Science Monitor. I am also grateful for the many healings I have received through Christian Science and for being a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church. What I am most deeply grateful for is the enlightenment which I have received regarding the teachings and works of our Master.
