ANGEL VISITANTS

From the October 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At times when days seem burdened and oppressed,
Love's angel visitants throng in to me,
To calm the winds of conflict and unrest
And still the waves on life's tumultuous sea.

"The battle is not yours but God's." This one
Brings courage when my strength seems almost gone;
With rays of hope as radiant as the sun,
It lights my path and gently speeds me on.

"Take no thought for your life." When want and lack
Loom in the way with dismal threats and drear,
This watchful sentinel can hurl them back,
Assuring me of plenitude and cheer.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean
Not unto thine own understanding." This
Is one beloved guest from whom I glean
True guidance that can never lead amiss.

These precious visitors, and more beside,
Have been a haven and a sheltering rock,
With power to quell each angry, threatening tide,
And shield my heart from many a bruising shock.

Oh, blessed host! Sweet guardians of my days,
Who come in answer to my every need!
To God I voice my gratitude and praise,
For you, His angel visitants, indeed!
