I have received so many blessings from the study and application of Christian Science that I should be most ungrateful if I delayed longer to share some of my healings with others.
A number of years ago I began to read Science through curiosity. I had become acquainted with some Christian Scientists for the first time and I wished to know what it was that healed them of illnesses, made them happy, and gave them a church worthy of so much devotion. At first, I was unwilling to have anyone know that I was reading the Christian Science textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. How grateful I am that I decided to attend a church service and then a Christian Science lecture! Through the reading of the textbook, a whole new world opened to me. I had found a church based on practical Christianity which was applicable to every detail of my life.
At first, I resented hearing the name "Mary Baker Eddy" read from the desk during the services. However, I soon came to see that the very reading of our beloved Leader's name was the equivalent of saying: "This is genuine. This is a real Christian Science church." Since the healing of prejudice at hearing Mrs. Eddy's name, I have become immeasurably grateful to her for having brought new hope, joy, and health to me, as well as to countless thousands of others who have been healed by her teachings.
