Testimonies of Healing

I should like to express my gratitude...

From the October 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science. My first healing was of a misconception of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy. I found that Christian Scientists do not deify Mrs. Eddy or worship her, but that they revere her and are profoundly grateful for the revelation which came through her. It meant much to me that our Leader said to the members of The Mother Church, "Obey strictly the laws that be, and follow your Leader only so far as she follows Christ" (Message to The Mother Church for 1901, p. 34).

I had been an active member of an orthodox church prior to my investigation of Christian Science. My investigation resulted in a better understanding of Church and a truer sense of sacrament and communion. It then became my earnest desire to identify myself with Christian Science through membership in both The Mother Church and a branch church. I applied and was accepted.

I have had many healings in Science, but at this time will mention only two of them. An entirely new business activity from that in which I was engaged has unfolded. During the transitional period I grasped something of the true meaning of supply. I found great help in the final line of Mrs. Eddy's definition of "Mind" on page 591 of Science and Health, "Deity, which outlines but is not outlined," and in what she writes about supply in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 307). Also helpful in making this demonstration was Hymn No. 46 in the Christian Science Hymnal.
