With sincere thankfulness to God, I submit this testimony in the hope that it will bring courage and expectancy of good to others. I am very grateful for Christian Science, for consecrated Christian Scientists, and for practitioners who hold up our hands as Aaron and Hur held up Moses' hands (Ex. 17:12). When the presence of the Christ, Truth, is realized, healing is instantaneous.
I have had many healings in Science, but over sixteen years ago the following healings took place. I was baking a pie, and when I opened the oven door, I found that the wind had blown under the oven and had put out the flame. The oven was full of gas, and the gas caught fire from the burners on top of the stove. There was a terrific explosion and I was knocked against the wall. I grabbed a dish towel and smothered the flames on my hair. My face, neck, and arms were so severely burned that a friend who saw me that afternoon did not recognize me. There were two young girls in the home who attended the Christian Science Sunday School. At my request the younger girl went next door and called a practitioner for me. In less than two hours all pain was gone and I suffered no more.
That afternoon I talked with the practitioner and told her that I was afraid I should be scarred. She told me not to look at myself, not to touch my face or arms or put anything on them. I feel that obedience to this request, together with faith and confidence in God, enabled me to experience a complete healing. I was told to study the chapter entitled "Creation" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and also the following sentence on page 247: "Beauty is a thing of life, which dwells forever in the eternal Mind and reflects the charms of His goodness in expression, form, outline, and color." In less than two weeks the scales fell off, leaving no scars, but a complexion better than I had had before.
