I wish to express gratitude to God for the benefits I have received from the study and application of Christian Science.
Immediately following World War I, after concluding a job of shipbuilding I had contracted to do, it was necessary for me to find another position. Although the shipbuilding line at that time was at its lowest ebb, I was determined not to accept any false suggestion of limitation, and in three weeks I secured a position.
Three offers came to me in those three weeks. During that period of readjustment I conferred daily with a practitioner, for I was suffering from severe bodily pains. Yielding to suggestion, I decided to have a physician diagnose the condition. I did not find him at home, so I went directly to the practitioner, who bade me rest while he declared the truth about God's man. In a very short time I awakened, and all pain had disappeared. In the next few days I found a position as inspector of hulls, and, although the position was supposed to be only a temporary one, it lasted for twenty-two years, until our ships were taken over by the United States Government.
