GOD HAS NO DISPLACED NOR MISPLACED SONS AND DAUGHTERS

From the August 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the world of today there is an unusual amount of shifting, replacing, and adjusting going on in governments and in political alignments, foreign and domestic. Men, women, and children manumitted from war bondage are either returning to their native lands and former occupations or striving to evolve new patterns of living in the conditions in which they now find themselves. Some servicemen are retained in foreign countries for occupational duty, while others have been returned to their homeland to find a place in civilian life.

From a mortal viewpoint, the positions of many individuals may appear precarious, intolerable, or hopeless. But by replacing fear and frustration with an understanding of the truths of spiritual being these very individuals may learn to cease thinking of themselves as misplaced, displaced, or helpless mortals, and to find themselves surrounded by the love of God, in whom they truly live and move and have their being as spiritual ideas—His sons and daughters.

The supreme need of individuals in making adjustments to new conditions, and in finding and maintaining their proper places in human affairs, is basically not material but spiritual. And Christian Science teaches men that in order to demonstrate the divine nature and sonship and experience its blessings, they must be willing to gain a better understanding of God and His idea, man, and to deny reality to the finite and corporeal sense of self. It is the demonstration of the metaphysical fact of man's forever place as God's child which enables the children of men to find and keep their rightful health, homes, and positions.
