Many years ago I took a trip to the West Coast to visit an uncle. I knew that he was interested in some new kind of religion, but up to that time I had never even heard the name "Christian Science." After my arrival he talked to me frequently on the subject. Partly to please him I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, but at the time understood little of it.
I had long been annoyed with a pain in my shoulder, and one evening I was complaining to my uncle about it. He asked me to try Christian Science. I thought, "I should like to see if it will help me," and so at his recommendation I called a Christian Science practitioner. In about an hour the pain left me, and while the next morning I felt a slight return of it, it has never bothered me again. Had that been my only healing in Christian Science I might have thought it "just happened"; however, I have enjoyed many healings since.
Once when on Prince Edward Island, where there was no Christian Science activity, I was seized with a severe headache which was apparently sinus trouble. It was very painful and continued for several days. Finally, I felt I could stand it no longer, and sent a telegram to a practitioner in New Jersey. Very shortly the pain eased, and in a few hours I was entirely free.
