I am very grateful for Christian Science and for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who labored so unselfishly that all mankind today may be blessed and saved by this Christ, Truth. Jesus tells us (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I have found freedom from many illnesses, including severe headaches, and from anxiety for the future. At one time many years ago I was very ill, and my mother, not a Christian Scientist, called a physician. I had a hemorrhage, and the doctor said he could not stop it, that he had done all he could. A Christian Science practitioner was called, work was immediately begun, and in half an hour the condition was healed; the claim of mortal mind that I was at death's door was proved false. After this demonstration my husband acknowledged the power of Truth and became an earnest student of Science.
A few years ago when in New York I tripped over a telephone cord in a store and fell. I was placed in a wheel chair and taken to the store's dispensary, where the nurse said the doctor was out. I asked to use the telephone and called a practitioner. He said that I must take my stand as to whom I would serve; either I must know that God is all power or listen to mortal mind's claim. I felt at peace, and when the doctor came and insisted that I go to a bone specialist, I refused to do this. He bandaged my foot, and I returned to my hotel, where I removed the bandage. My leg was discolored and badly swollen. All night I prayed and worked, and the next morning, after cutting my shoe a little, I was able to attend the meeting for which I had gone to New York, and no one appeared to notice any difficulty in my walking. The insurance agent from the claim department called that evening and made a settlement, since, he said, the cord should not have been where it was. When he saw that I was able to be about and had not kept in touch with their doctor, he asked me about Christian Science. In a few days, with help from my husband, all discoloration was gone and the experience seemed like a dream.
Many business difficulties have been worked out when we have ceased outlining and have listened for God's directing. Peace, love, and harmony have reigned in our home, even though at times mortal mind has tried to attract our attention. As God's reflection we can experience only good. This is just a small part of what Christian Science has brought into my life. Every day it is our privilege to acknowledge and praise our God, who is All-in-all.
