It has long been my desire to express through our periodicals my sincere gratitude to God for Christian Science and for the wonderful change it has brought about in my life.
My attention was first called to this wonderful religion by the healing of our daughter, then seven years of age, of a condition that the physician had told us would require a surgical operation. Through the work of a Christian Science practitioner the condition was completely healed in two weeks' time, and there has been no recurrence during the past thirty-five years. This healing gave me the desire to know something about Science, so I started to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading a few chapters of this wonderful book I found that lifelong desires to know a God near at hand and to know how to pray had been completely satisfied.
During the first World War the same daughter and I were instantaneously healed of influenza while I was reading Science and Health, although my knowledge of Christian Science was then very limited. The experience so elevated my thought above contagion and disease that I was immediately enabled to assist in taking care of other victims of this malady with complete protection to my family and myself.
