Testimonies of Healing

In compliance with our Leader's counsel...

From the April 1947 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In compliance with our Leader's counsel regarding written testimony (Manual, Art. VIII, Sect. 24), I humbly submit the following for publication.

It was during the troublous days of World War I, when I was in great despair, that I unconditionally accepted Christian Science. Since then this priceless Science has been my constant Comforter, shield, and stay. Among the first gratifying evidences of the healing, regenerating power of Christian Science was my restoration to normalcy from the deleterious effects of a major surgical operation, made compulsory by military order. Since then my pathway, though steep and rugged, has been strewn with blessings so manifold that space would scarcely permit their recital here.

Chief among the physical discords of which I have been healed are periodic tonsillitis, chills and fever, ulcerated teeth, a badly sprained ankle that healed overnight, seed warts that partially covered one side of the neck and face, chronic athlete's foot, and an alarming case of blood poisoning. The last-mentioned malady yielded only after a severe struggle, making necessary more diligent study of the Bible, together with Science and Health and other writings by Mary Baker Eddy. Throughout this experience the daily unstinted singing of hymns from our precious Hymnal provided the added inspiration needed to dispel the mists of discouragement that all too frequently appeared on the mental horizon. This healing took place seven years ago.
