Since my initial glimpse of the truth of Christian Science it has been unfolding to me in ever-increasing clarity, and I am more impressed each day with its simplicity. I have had many proofs of how right ideas entertained in consciousness heal the ill effects of the wrong ideas which they supplant.
Fallen arches were healed when I learned that man in reality has never fallen from his spiritual perfection as God's image and likeness. Extreme fatigue of the legs, which I believed to be due to standing steadily all day, was healed when I understood that man is not material, but spiritual, supported by divine Principle. I remember that some fellow workers asked me at that time if I worked hard. I was so uplifted that I could not help but reply: "I don't work hard; I work easily. I accomplish more that way."
At one time, when it was necessary for me to stay up each night a few hours later than usual, I quite often awoke the next morning with a severe headache, accompanied by a feeling of weariness. When it became clear to me that matter, the body, does not know what time it is, is unintelligent, and therefore cannot suffer because of late hours, this difficulty vanished. I saw that the whole belief of growing old, with its accompanying bodily deterioration. culminating in death, derives its support from the false supposition that matter is intelligent and knows what time it is, or how long it has claimed to be man.
