During the more than thirty years since Christian Science was introduced to our home, we have had many proofs of the healing and protecting power of its teaching. Early proofs of this power came to us in physical healing, of which the family was in great need. My aunt was healed of a stomach trouble of many years' standing while reading a copy of Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, borrowed from the local Reading Room. My mother was healed of weakness following a breakdown, and I was healed of a bladder trouble when my mother's thought was uplifted through the loving help of a practitioner.
For some years I accepted Christian Science in a passive way, getting help in schoolwork, but it was not until I grew up and began to meet experiences which called for sincere study that I began really to search for and practice truth in my daily life. I had the helpful experience of class instruction, and I am most grateful for the deepening of my understanding and the support gained during this time.
A healing of self-consciousness has been outstanding to me, for I suffered very much from extreme shyness. I learned something of true selfhood as the expression of God, and I began to know God as ever-present Mind and as infinite Love.
