From the March 1948 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matt. 12:34). So must I speak from a heart overflowing with joy and gratitude for the many blessings that Christian Science has brought into my life. About ten years ago, after years of pain and sickness, God's hand led me to Christian Science. In these ten years I have enjoyed a complete freedom, a bliss, and a peace that I did not know were possible to obtain on this earth. There have been testing times, but each experience has been but further evidence of God's blessed love and protecting care.

Most precious and useful to me has been the knowledge that I express that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus." It has enabled me to refuse limitation, and whether the requirement has been for physical or mental stamina. I know I have but to call on this ever-present and all-powerful Mind to realize that which is needful. As a result of this, chronic sore throat and sinus trouble have been overcome, as well as numerous other ills.

My most outstanding healing took place after a pressure cooker I was using for the first time exploded. I was bending over it. and the full force of the steam and hot water hit my face. I fell to the floor, and the contents of the pressure cooker, which had been hurled all the way to the ceiling, came down on my back. For a short time the agony seemed almost unbearable. I then started to work, as we are taught to do in Christian Science. I repeated the Lord's Prayer and "the scientific statement of being" found on page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Immediately a sweet feeling of peace and well-being flooded my consciousness. On examination, however, I found that my face, especially around the eyes, was burned to what the human sense would term an alarming degree. Also my back bore serious evidence of the same condition. I remained in seclusion for some time, for I knew that my appearance would excite unfavorable comment. Although the healing was slow, I am happy to report that there is not a sign of a scar, which mortal mind would call impossible considering the severity of the burns.
