In Proverbs we read (3:6), "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." How true we find this to be when we recognize God as the only power and seek to follow His guidance.
My mother began the study of Christian Science when her four children were very young, and many have been the demonstrations of Truth experienced in our home. While still a child, I had a beautiful healing of rheumatism. Years later, after I was married, the ailment again tried to attach itself to me.
We were living in a strange town, many miles from home and dear ones, and my husband was not a student of Christian Science, although he was not antagonistic to it. I had a great sense of fear and a feeling of separation from those who could help me. There was a great deal of pain, and my attempt to help myself failed. At this point I called a practitioner, and help was lovingly given. Although the healing took a number of days to accomplish, it was complete.
For a number of years, while my children were young, we lived in the country without a telephone. During this period I had the opportunity of proving over and over again the ever-availability of God. I learned to place the responsibility for the care of the children with God, their only Father-Mother.
As I have earnestly endeavored to see all men as perfect children of God, I have put off glasses on which I had come to place dependence.
For membership in The Mother Church and for the privilege of having part in the activities of a branch church, I am increasingly thankful. It is my humble prayer that my deeds may prove my gratitude to God for Christian Science, and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her steadfast obedience to God's direction.— Albert Lea, Minnesota.
I am happy to bear witness to the truth of my daughter's statements and to add that the healing of inflammatory rheumatism was brought about by absent treatment in both cases. When a child, my daughter was also healed of smallpox and measles. She was born under Christian Science treatment.
