That Christian Science heals both mental and physical discord is a well-known fact. It has been my happy experience to learn of and demonstrate this wonderful truth.
In September, 1936, injuries received in an automobile accident had left me a cripple. The search for the health that I thought I had lost kept me occupied for the next three years. Most of the so-called physical sciences were explored. Electrotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic exercises, and sun-bathing were all tried. I prayed during this time that God would show me the way. Although my prayers did not seem to be answered, later I was able to understand a little more clearly how God was leading me to where I would know the truth through Christian Science.
In September, 1939, despite the failure of material science to give me any great amount of help, I decided to enter a hospital for a complete examination and diagnosis. Many tests and examinations were given. Even hypnosis was used. It was a sad day when the doctors informed me that they could not do anything to help my condition. Arrangements were made for visits to a psychiatrist, who, it was explained, would help me to get a better mental attitude toward my infirmity.
