A GOODLY HERITAGE

From the December 1949 issue of The Christian Science Journal

TO have a heritage is good. But an heir who is not aware of his inheritance is not blessed by its bestowals. To know himself the heir enables one to claim that which is rightfully his.

The Christian Scientist is correctly informed of his heritage. God, Spirit, the parent Mind, the one creator, gives to man, His highest idea, every holy quality. As God's reflection, man possesses a heritage of good; he is maintained as spiritual idea— complete, radiant, incapable of lapsing from perfection. These facts understood enable the sons of men to demonstrate something of the divine perfection, which belongs to man. This means progress and ensures a commensurate preclusion of mortal sense imperfections.

Progress does not change—cannot improve—the perfect man of God's creating. Progress consists in perceiving with increasing clarity this ever-perfection of man and in living the divine qualities as they are discerned and understood.
