Among the many blessings which God has bestowed upon me through the teachings of Christian Science are a happy home wherein the members are working Christian Scientists, membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, class instruction, and the ability through reflection to follow the command of Jesus to heal the sick and the sinning. Truly, my eyes have been opened to "behold wondrous things out of thy law" (Ps. 119:18).
In November, 1945, my husband and I were severely injured when our car, after hitting a chunk of icy snow on the highway about two miles from our home, swerved into the path of an oncoming car. A young man living near by kindly offered to take us home after we assured him we did not care to go to a hospital. As soon as he entered our home, my husband, whose injuries were less severe than mine, called a consecrated teacher and practitioner of Christian Science for help for both of us. My physical needs were taken care of by a Christian Scientist with a knowledge of practical nursing. My disabilities consisted of a number of severe injuries, including a fractured leg, a ruptured stomach, and severe shock.
During the days that followed we had many proofs of God's loving care. Whenever we called the practitioner—and at first it was necessary to call him several times each day and night—relief was experienced within a matter of minutes. One of the outstanding factors in my healing was the recognition that my real identity and individuality had not been touched by accident, and that because I existed as idea in divine Mind, I was safe.
