Christian Science has helped me in every way since I took up its study nearly twenty-eight years ago. Although I had been brought up as a nonconformist and had taught for several years in Sunday School, I had really lost all my old blind faith. I continued to teach because I thought that the influence of the Bible stories would be helping my pupils; but I myself did not know what to believe.
One day a brother of mine asked me to read a book he had come across. He would not tell me the name of it until I had rather reluctantly given my promise. Then he told me it was the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had not read very far before I realized that this teaching was absolutely logical and opened up vistas of infinite adventure in Mind, which I had found for the first time. Immediately my outlook on life was greatly changed, and I began to demonstrate Truth's healing power whenever it occurred to me to apply its laws. After studying for only two months I experienced an instantaneous healing of an ulcerated sore throat, and although I had frequently been troubled in this way from childhood, I have been free from it ever since.
What I am most grateful for is the understanding, in some degree, of what God is. I shall never forget the joy I felt when beginning this study and realizing that God is actually knowable. This joyous sense must have had its effect at once, for I immediately stopped coughing; colds became less frequent; and bilious attacks were gradually overcome.
