Joy and gratitude for the precious gift...

From the June 1949 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Joy and gratitude for the precious gift of Christian Science impel me to offer this testimony to all who desire to know if this religion heals.

At the time of the passing on of my mother, Christian Science was comparatively new to me, yet I had no sense of separation because I saw clearly that Life never ends. Instead of finding me in tears, my schoolmates found me preparing for the service, singing hymns and free from grief. The words of Christ Jesus, when the Jews asked him (John 8:57), "Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?" came to me as though someone had spoken them aloud (8:58): "Before Abraham was, I am."

Years later, after suffering disappointments in human relationships, I seemed on the verge of losing my mind. A practitioner of Christian Science, who had also been my Sunday School teacher, was called, and the aid given was quick and effective. Through the night I could only think, God is Mind and I cannot lose Him. The result of this healing, which was complete, is a greater realization of Love as divine, as sweet, constant, unchanging, pure, and all-inclusive. Our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says in Science and Health (p. 224), "No power can withstand divine Love," and (p. 225), "Truth makes man free."
