Testimonies of Healing

All the good that has come into my experience...

From the December 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

All the good that has come into my experience during the past fifteen years I owe to Christian Science. At a time in my life when man's extremity was God's opportunity, I prayed for the light and was led to investigate the teachings of Christian Science. On my first visit to a practitioner it was recommended that I memorize the one hundred and twenty-first Psalm. I did, and this Psalm has always been a staff upon which to lean.

In our family we have had healings of earache, headache, athlete's foot, a persistent cough, and mumps, in no more than one treatment. Other physical healings, such as those of blood poisoning and bronchial pneumonia, took a longer period of time. We have worked out problems of supply, employment, discordant human relationships, and also business problems.

A healing of blood poisoning which occurred before I joined a branch church led me to take my stand for church membership. A small growth appeared on the ball of my foot, and since there was an itching sensation, I constantly rubbed it, causing it to become infected. It grew to be quite large, which made it extremely difficult for me to walk. The practitioner lovingly worked for me day and night for two weeks, and I studied every spare moment I had. There was never any pain, and I slept normally each night. One of the members of the family became fearful and insisted I go to a surgeon; and one day I was tempted to call a doctor. While I was waiting for him to answer, a voice seemed to say, "You are doubting God's omnipotence." I left the telephone, and my little daughter begged me not to go to a doctor, assuring me that God would heal me. I thought, "A little child shall lead them" (Isa. 11:6), and was convinced then I must wait patiently on God. About three days later I "touched the hem of his garment." Mentally I was indeed "absent from the body, and . . . present with the Lord." As I started up the steps to change the bandage I felt a dampness on the cloth, and I knew the drainage had started. The growth fell away, and the bottom of the foot cleared in due time.
