WHAT are the nature and the purpose of creation? How did the universe originate? Such questions have bewildered the. world's thinkers throughout the ages, and they still remain unanswered for many today. Unable to see beyond the evidence of the material senses, mortals accept the outward sense of things as reality and seek satisfaction in matter. Thus they find sorrow and suffering, for material sense is an illusion. Oftentimes disappointment and despair engender a desire for a higher peace and a more purposeful life.
Christian Science provides the complete . and permanent answer to the question of creation. Through the study and practice of this Science the student experiences a gradual unfoldment of the truth of being and proves the evidence of the material senses to be false. Through the orderly development and utilization of spiritual sense he progressively gains an understanding of the nature of God, man, and the universe, not as material, but as wholly spiritual. He discerns that God is the only Mind and that creation is the spiritual unfoldment of Mind's ideas.
Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 379), "The real jurisdiction of the world is in Mind, controlling every effect and recognizing all causation as vested in divine Mind." Problems of every nature, whether sinful habits, discordant human relationships, sickness and disease, or business difficulties, can all be solved through availing oneself of the jurisdiction of the one Mind. In the ratio one does this he experiences the protective guidance and beneficence of Mind, evidenced in security, health, abundance, intelligence, poise, and integrity.
