Testimonies of Healing

How grateful I am that Christian Science...

From the September 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

How grateful I am that Christian Science was presented to my family when I was a small child, for it has been my sole'physician and guide ever since. Truly, it has been a "lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Ps. 119:105).

When I was in grammar and junior high school I had few friends. Although I was attending the Christian Science Sunday School, it was very difficult for me to be friendly. When our family moved to another neighborhood, a group of girls in the new school which I attended befriended me. despite all my faults. Little by little, as these faults were pointed out to me, they were healed through Christian Science. Some of them were carelessness, arrogance, selfishness, and self-consciousness. Soon after this I became friends with an earnest young student of Christian Science who was in my Sunday School class, and a little later I was accepted as a member of a branch church.

There have been many physical healings through the honest application of the truth. My thumb, which was badly bruised in a field hockey game, was healed almost immediately. My wrist was injured when two heavy bobsleds ran over my hand. At that time I was serving in the dining room at the Christian Science Benevolent Association in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and in my work I needed to use my wrist in carrying trays. The next morning, when I realized that nothing could prevent me, as a child of God, from doing what is right, the healing came, and my work was done in perfect ease.
