All the uncertainties of existence stem from the mistaken mortal beliefs that God bestows both good and evil and that there is a power apart from Him. Habakkuk says of God (1:13), "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity." How then could God, not knowing evil, create or bestow evil? That there is no power apart from Him is protested by the very first chapter of the Bible, which declares plainly (Gen.1:1,31): "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. . . . And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."
The implication of this spiritual dictum induces one to exercise his sovereign right as a child of God and refute the inhuman material laws that claim one may become diseased unwillingly or the victim of shifting chance, or that most of his activities are undertaken with larger or smaller degrees of luck attached to them.
That there is ample reason to claim one's birthright as the child of God is shown throughout the Bible. For instance, the writer of I John reveals not only man's sonship with God but the Father's love for His child. He exclaims (3:1), "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God." The supposititious mortal is not this son. Man, expressing God and coexisting with Him, is spiritual and includes all good. Furthermore, man has never existed without God and, coincidently, God has never existed without His expression, man. Since man's spiritual identity is the expression of Mind, God, man understands that he is governed harmoniously as the son of God.
