Centuries ago Christ Jesus said (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." He was stating a spiritual law which is just as applicable to our problems today as it was then. The power of this spiritual law has been proved in my experience many times.
For several years I had a serious skin disease for which I had help intermittently from Christian Science practitioners. A skin specialist told me there was no cure for the condition. Yielding to discouragement, I had some X-ray treatments. My skin began to clear up; however, the disease returned in about four months, and its manifestation was even more pronounced. When a relative who was not a Scientist insisted that I have further medical treatment, I knew that I must decide whether I wished to rely on medicine or on Christian Science. The verse from Romans (8:2) came to my thought, "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." Fear began to lessen from that moment, as did likewise the manifestation of the disease.
Within two weeks I was entirely free from a discordant condition of three years' standing. I saw clearly that I had failed to receive my healing sooner because of fear and a wavering faith. Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 445), "You render the divine law of healing obscure and void, when you weigh the human in the scale with the divine, or limit in any direction of thought the omnipresence and omnipotence of God." This healing, for which I am very grateful, occurred a number of years ago and has been permanent. I am also grateful for the many healings that I have experienced since then. My heartfelt gratitude goes to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, whose spirituality enabled her to give to the world a clearer and better understanding of the teachings of Christ Jesus.
