I became interested in Christian Science because I knew some students of this Science who had deep faith in God. I began reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and threw out all the medical remedies which I had been using. About halfway through the reading of the book, I was healed of a periodic disorder. To feel God's nearness and goodness and know there is no other presence or power was wonderful.
During the births of our children we had Christian Science treatment, and the experiences were harmonious ones. "The scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468) has always been a great help to me. My children have been healed of injuries from falls, burns, colds, whooping cough., mumps, measles, and chicken pox.
The healing that stands out most to me was that of an infection in my hand, which was very painful. It was spreading to my arm, and I became quite fearful of blood poisoning. I had been up most of one night, singing and reading to overcome the sense of fear. Then I took my stand that regardless of what might happen I would stick to Christian Science and trust God. The pain ceased, but the following day the infection still seemed to be spreading. I went to the Reading Room and read an article which the practitioner who was helping me had recommended. As I left and walked up the street, I realized that "I can of mine own self do nothing" (John 5:30), but that "with God all things are possible" (Matt. 19:26). and that man is not separated from God, but is God's perfect expression. My thought was so uplifted that everything suddenly grew bright, and I knew I was healed.
