I want to give my word of gratitude for Christian Science. Shortly after I started reading Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, which a loving neighbor had recommended to help me overcome a confused sense of thought, my eleven-month-old daughter was stricken with spasms. The neighbor was in my house at the time, and I asked her to call a Christian Science practitioner. Treatment was given, and harmony was restored quickly. The difficulty recurred twice, but was quickly met each time, and since then there has been no evidence of inharmony. At the same time many things that were troubling me were also cleared up.
Our family has had many healings. Among them were those of appendicitis and abscessed kidney. An immediate operation for these conditions had been recommended by a physician, but the realization of the truth of the statement from Science and Health (Pref., p. xi). "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation," completely overcame all evidence of these diseases in three days.
Other healings were a severe injury to a hand, rheumatism which had rendered me almost helpless, severe burns, and many other ills. All were beautifully and completely overcome in our effort to be obedient to the teachings of the Bible and to those of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, found in Science and Health and her other writings.
