My sincere gratitude for Christian Science prompts me to write this testimony with the hope that it may encourage others. Over and over again in my experience that which seemed impossible has become gloriously possible through the study and application of our wonderful religion. Many times since 1933, when I attended my first lecture on Christian Science, I have found that "trials are proofs of God's care," as our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes in Science and Health (p. 66). Now I too can rejoice as did Paul (II Cor. 12:10), for the many problems I have experienced have given me a better understanding of God and shown me how to work in Christian Science.
A few years ago, because of a false sense of responsibility, or, I might say more exactly, because of a false sense of self, I became burdened and unhappy. Severe heart attacks finally awakened me to the need of letting go of this wrong thinking. After a mighty struggle accompanied by a number of distressing difficulties, I began to claim my dominion and joy through a more devoted daily study of the entire Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. and I also became much more familiar with the other writings of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
"The New Birth" (p. 15) and "Bible Lessons" (p. 180) in "Miscellaneous Writings" were especially helpful. Through this study the recognition of Mrs. Eddy's mission brought a great sense of strength and peace to my awakening thought.
