During my childhood and young womanhood...

From the October 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

During my childhood and young womanhood I knew nothing of Christian Science, because my parents were bitterly opposed to what they believed it to be. I am glad to state that they both were later healed of this opposition.

When I married, my husband had a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy and asked me to read it to him every night. When I went to the home of my mother-in-law to have my first child she asked me if I had am objection to Christian Science. I replied that I had none. With my permission she called a practitioner, who came to see me. The birth of my child was very harmonious, and the experience with the practitioner was one that I have never forgotten.

I frequently had sties on ms eyelids. One morning I saw that one was about to appear, and I determined to see if I really understood what I had been reading of Christian Science. I studied the Lesson-Sermon for that week from the Christian Science Quarterly, and to my joy when I had completed it, the sty had disappeared, and I have not had another. I just knew that God did not make such a condition and that His work is perfect.
