I have now been studying Christian Science for nineteen years, and I think it is high time that I express my heartfelt gratitude through the printed word of the periodicals for the multitude of blessings that have come my way. When I first started to study this Science f was suffering from stomach disorder, intestinal toxemia, constipation. bronchitis, sinusitis, and a tendency to take colds. With the help of a practitioner and through my own application of Christian Science I was healed of all these conditions. Some of the healings were instantaneous; others were not.
One healing I am particularly grateful for happened some time ago, and it proved to me the truth of what Mary Baker Eddy says about the prayer of the righteous Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. p. 206): "This prayer, governed by Science instead of the senses, heals the sick." For about nine years I had been suffering from a kidney disorder, and during the more recent of those years a great fear had beset me with regard to my kidneys. I did much earnest working and praying to overcome this fear, but with little result.
Then one day "the thing which I greatly feared" came upon me. For three days my entire right side was stricken with pain, and I could not lie down, walk, or stand without pain. It was then that I asked help from a practitioner. On the third day I was feeling so depressed that thoughts of death were constantly presenting themselves, and I could not prevail against them.
