I should like to express my sincere gratitude to God for Christian Science, the religion of Love. It was introduced to me by a member of my family after I had been suffering for over three years from the effects of a serious operation. During this period many different drugs were taken to no avail, and the physician finally said there was no hope of my ever being better.
Truly, "man's extremity is God's opportunity." Shortly thereafter I accepted an invitation to spend my Thanksgiving holiday with a sister and her family in a distant city. They were not aware of my problem, but I feel that divine Mind led me to this home, for obstacles which might have prevented my traveling to this city were overcome. I was invited to attend the Thanksgiving Day service m a Church of Christ. Scientist, and I gladly accepted. This was my first Christian Science service, and the many wonderful testimonies given greatly impressed me; but the tiling that stood out most was the inscription on the wall, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494). After the service my host and I discussed my problem briefly, and he lent me a copy of Science and Health, which I read with interest on the return trip.
I was then led to visit a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly answered my questions and allayed my fears by speaking to me of God and His ever-present love and of man as His image and likeness.
