Over thirty years ago, while I was studying music in the East, I became interested in Christian Science. The study and application of its rules, as given to the world by Mrs. Eddy, have brought me manifold blessings and have taught me a higher way of life. I have been freed from the narrowness of a scholastic religion, the hopelessness of a medical prediction, false standards of human society, and the desire to smoke.
I had the loving ministration of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner at a time when I seemed to be passing on from typhoid fever; I had been given up by the doctors. While I was in a state of convulsions the practitioner sat by my bed and read from our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The reading was continued for several hours, until I fell asleep and the fever broke. I then began to mend, and in a short time I was able to be up and about.
I am grateful to The Christian Science Publishing Society for our authorized literature. During the Second World War, when I was living alone. The Christian Science Monitor more than made up for the lack of human companionship. I appreciate my membership in The Mother Church and the privilege of having been active in branch church work. Class instruction from a consecrated teacher has been a sacred experience.
