"I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord" (Ps. 118:17). This great truth concerning man was so completely realized that I was healed of a growth on my forehead of several years' standing. I had been warned by friends who were not Christian Scientists that the growth should be removed because it was becoming larger; they had expressed fear that it was a cancer. However, I was confident that this erroneous condition had no root in divine Mind, so it could not be a part of man, the image and likeness of God. While having help from a consecrated practitioner for this problem I awakened one night, and with the above words of the Psalmist came a great peace; I knew that I was healed. Shortly afterward the growth just faded away.
Before knowing anything about Christian Science I suffered greatly from gallstones. I had had treatment from doctors, but they could not help me, and finally I was sent to a hospital for a complete examination. X rays were taken and an operation was advised. It was stated by the doctor that I would never be well unless an operation were performed. However, I refused to submit to one, for I felt I could be healed in some other way. I know now that all the while I was being led to seek and find Christian Science.
Soon afterward this Science was presented to me by a friend by way of a Christian Science Sentinel, and the truths I read in it awakened in me a great desire to know God. Finding that God is all-loving and does not send sickness or death to His children was like a refreshing drink of water.
